Submissions
Novels
Pine Lake Books is accepting submissions for novels at this time. Your novel should be typed in word. Do not add indents or tabs for paragraphs, but please double space between paragraphs. Type in century schoolbook or times roman 12 pt or 14 pt, single space. Mark each chapter with a page break and the chapter number, followed by two line spaces.Your manuscript should meet the following criteria.
Paranormal Romance: between 45,000 and 100,000 words; 14+
Paranormal: between 30,000-40,000 for juveniles; 30,000 to 100,000 14+
Horror: 45,000 to 100,000 words; ages 8-15; ages 14+; please specify your category
Juvenile Fiction: 30,000 to 50,000 words; ages 8-15
Fantasy: 30,000 to 100,000 words
Easy Reading: 30,000 to 50,000 words -- this category encompasses both juveniles and adults to encourage them to read.
The above word counts are to be used for a guideline. We will accept manuscripts outside of these word counts. We will
not however, accept manuscripts that are explicitly sexual in nature.
Picture books
Please note that Pine Lake Books is not taking submissions for picture books at this time. If you are looking for publishing services to self-publish please refer to our Publishing page. We will let you know when submissions in this category are once again open.
children
Submissions for picture books should be broken into no fewer than 12 pages and no more than 48 pages and suitable for children of all ages. When you submit your manuscript please put the age group on the front page of the manuscript.
Picture Book categories are ages 2-8 and 6-10
teens and adults
If you have a picture book aimed at an older audience please feel free to submit it for our consideration. Please be sure to inform us that the book is intended for an older audience, and what that audience would be.
